Shoulder Circumference

Anthropometric measurement; distance around the upper torso at shoulder level. The subject is standing erect with shoulders back; a tape measure is placed on one of the deltoid muscles just inferior to the acromion process and passed around the body at the same level. The measurement is taken after a normal expiration. Shoulder circumference reflects muscular development and, consequently, is important in studies of lean body mass, strength training, and human engineering.
