Single-gene Hypothesis

Any proposal that a specific structure, function, or behavior in an organism is the result of the action of DNA at one genetic locus; verification of many such hypotheses exists, whereas other putative single-gene effects have reverted to hypotheses invoking either polygenic inheritence or multifactorial inheritence, or have been shown not to have any genetic basis whatsoever.
