Supramastoid Crest

Horizontal ridge of bone that extends backwards from the zygomatic process. It serves as a site of attachment for the lowermost fibers of the temporalis muscle. It is present in several extinct hominids, namely Paranthropus, Australopithecus, and Homo erectus.
