Larger of the two lower leg bones, located on the medial side; aka shinbone. Of the two bones of the lower leg, only this bone is weight-bearing; it receives weight from the femur and transfers it to the foot. The proximal end helps form the knee joint; the distal end articulates with the talus and helps form the ankle joint.
