Two-phase Model

Proposed modification of the short chronology model for the human occupation of Europe. This model proposes that hominid species inhabited the Mediterranean regions of Europe intermittently, from perhaps 1.2 mya, with continuous colonization of the circum-Mediterranean region followed by phased migration and occupation of areas north of the Alps and Pyrenees mountains between 600 and 500 kya.
