Vasodilation

Involuntary increase in the diameter of blood vessels, permitting increased blood flow to the skin; vasodilation permits warming of skin surfaces and facilitates radiation of heat as a means of cooling when an organism is too warm. The state of increase in diameter is known as vasodilatation.
